Functional Structure in DP and IP

In this volume, Guglielmo Cinque, one of the worlds leading theoretical syntacticians, presents the first results of a long term research project funded by the Italian Government. With a panel of distinguished linguists, Cinque attempts to develop a comprehensive mapping of various functional structures in natural structures in natural languages. This major collective research project in generative grammar is a valuable contribution to the field, providing a systematic and empirical look at the various functional heads found in the sentence and in other phrases in a variety of world languages. this is the first of several potential volumes within the comparative syntax series that will publish the results of this project.
