Disturbing Pleasures : Learning Popular Culture

"Disturbing Pleasures" attempts to rewrite the relationship between pedagogy and popular culture by expanding the notion of pedagogy both in terms of meaning and application. The text explains how this expansion works through various popular cultural forms, using examples from the worlds of commercialism and advertising. It argues that pedagogy should be a central dimension of cultural studies. The analysis combines the insights of critical pedagogy, popular culture and cultural studies.
