A neighborhood divided : community resistance to an AIDS care facility

The author is an ethnographer who spent two years talking with the inhabitants of a progressive neighbourhood facing the prospect of a nursing facility for AIDS patients nearby. She demonstrates that the issue divided residents of the community, known for liberal attitudes, in surprising ways.
