When the German Army invaded France in 1940, they made their position about Jews clear. In the years that followed, the loss of her father, brother and best friend fueled Gaëlle de Barbet to risk her own life to save Jewish children and France's artwork. For the next 77 years, she barely speaks of the experience until receiving the Legion of Honor medal forces her to confront these memories.
