Chemical Sciences in the 20th Century : Bridging Boundaries

Bok av Reinhardt Carsten Reinhardt
Chemistry in the 20th century was characterized by spectacular advances, stimulated, of course, by revolutionary theories. Yet, despite this rapid development, the contemporary history of this scientific discipline has not assumed the status necessary to comprehend the technical and industrial culture of the modern age. Now, at the turn of the century, the time has come to focus research in the history of science on the past 100 years. This monograph brings together existing approaches to research, opening up a new forum for scientific discussion in modern chemistry. It elevates the much-neglected subject of 20th-century history of science, while emphasising the interactions with the neighbouring disciplines of physics and biology.
