The contributors to this volume present studies of the crystallographic aspects, morphology and structural phase transitions of single-crystal, imperfect and amorphous surfaces or interfaces. They assess the status of surface structural determination and the relationship between surface or interface structures and relevant physical or chemical properties. The structural results come from theory and experiments ranging from well-established techniques to promising new surface-sensitive methods.
