This is an edited volume of invited papers on human factors issues, psycho acoustic approaches and applications of auditory warnings. Since the use of warnings of all kinds, especially alarms, is increasingly important to safety in a range of industries including aviation, there is a growing interest in the problems and opportunities involved.
