Baudelaire and Le spleen de Paris

The collection of prose poems known as Le Spleen de Paris is an important, puzzling, and yet relatively neglected area of Baudelaire's work. Hiddleston here provides the first study in English devoted exclusively to these works, focusing on Baudelaire's attitude towards his art, on the enigmatic, contradictory moral message the poems intend to convey and, most important, on the relationship between prose and poetry in this hybrid genre.
