Inorganic chemistry in biology

Bok av Patricia C. Wilkins
The book describes the importance and impact of a number of elements, other than carbon, in biological chemistry. There is a short background describing the interaction of inorganic molecules, especially metal ions, with biomolecules. The major part of the book contains a survey of biologically important elements and includes briefly the roles played in such varied species as humans, crocodiles, chickens, fish, beetles and plants and in diseases such as cystic fibrosis, methemoglobemia and thalassemia.
