English for the computer : the SUSANNE corpus and analytic scheme

In computer processing of natural language there is an urgent need for a standardized classification of the structural elements of language. This book provides the first public definition of such a scheme for English, based on large samples of real-life use of British and American written and spoken English. For any example of English the SUSANNE analytic scheme specifies a unique annotation describing all its structural properties.
