Büchner and madness : schizophrenia in Georg Büchner's Lenz and Woyzeck

This study evaluates Georg Buchner's portrayal of insanity in his works Lenz and Woyzeck in relation to the medical opinion of his time, and to contemporaneous literary treatments of the same subject in German. It provides a range of documentary evidence to reveal the accuracy of his insights.
