China Transformed : historical change and the limits of European experience

The assumption in much of social science that Europe provides a universal model of development is mistaken, the author of this study argues. The solution, he says, is not to reject Eurocentric norms, but to build complementary perspectives and evaluate where China and Europe converge or diverge.
