Flying American Combat Aircraft : The Battle of Khe Sanh and the Vietnam War

Bok av Bruce B G Clarke
On January 21, 1968, nine days before the Tet Offensive, thousands of North Vietnamese soldiers attacked the U.S. Marine base at Khe Sanh in remote northwestern South Vietnam. The ensuing siege ended seventy-seven days later in a tactical victory for the United States, which eventually abandoned the base, making it a heartbreaking and controversial symbol of American involvement in Vietnam. Bruce Clarke participated in the battle as a young U.S. Army officer advising the Marines, and his book combines his firsthand experiences and archival research to describe the saga of Khe Sanh.
