Things That Get You
Bok av Andrew Hubbard
Things That Get You engages the essential questions of life, reflecting on the connectivity of humanity and nature, and the importance of love and family today. Hubbard's poetry explores what it means to be a father, a husband, and a man. His thoughtful approach and beautifully crafted verses paint a vivid landscape of the mind recreating his imagistic sense of America. Both rhythmic and free-flowing, his poetry encourages us to contemplate what life truly means.
'Andrew has turned in a solid piece of work, redolent of the voices of Northern New England and the Great Plains - special tones of the tender and laconic father who has made his way from many-crafted Hums to verses he offers us for thinking about and feeling the subtle heights and depths of these certain regions of his that are at once new and old. He is a close looker, and showers us with varied words that have the intense clarity of images ringing, full of life, like brain-minted coins. His musings imply a large and resonant space, a piece of American Wilderness, in which the Very Large enhances but does not overshadow the Very Small. But he sees, as he grins tentatively our way, that there are meanings in these words, puzzles that tease him and us.'
