Violence: The Way Out is a program of change for behaviorally challenged youth, directly addressing the core reasons for violent, acting out, and dysfunctional behavior. This comprehensive program offers a step by step guide for professional counselors and educators, assisting them in teaching accountability and hope for the future for troubled youth. Violence: The Way Out Is a collection of goals, objectives, and hands on activities which cover major areas of concern that are the source of violent acting out including family issues, addictive behavior, and the giving and of receiving of support. Mental Health Professionals agree that behavioral patterns are formed consistent with thoughts and feelings of self-worth, emotional and behavioral management, and a student's ability to be resilient through difficult times. Violence: The Way Out is the only guide offering permanent change and a way out for our most challenged youth, and a solution to our cultural and family violence. The original version of this book was published with educators in mind, with the format useful in a classroom setting and/or small group, and long before the need was as great as in our current society. The original title Intervention Strategies for Violent Prone Behavior was a creation of the original publisher, and seemed to fit the need of educators at the time, since violence was an occasional and random occurrence, especially in our schools. When the authors decided to republish the book, the idea was to make it available to everyone working with at risk youth, and not limit it to the educational market as before. The need in our society today is great and the time is right. Because of this critical need the book is being made available with the new title and most of the old material which is timeless in its ability to impact change with challenged youth. The authors are comfortable with the original title being a part of the more recent work, acknowledging the idea of its relevance to today's society, and the urgency in which the work is needing to be made available. Hence the dual titles of this work, Violence: The Way Out and Intervention Strategies for Violent Prone Behavior.
