John and Jane went over the horizon. Departing Duluth-Superior on the western terminus of the St. Lawrence, they crossed the Great Lakes, the Erie Canal and Hudson River to New York City. It was an enchanting journey, and in more than one place they felt tempted to stay. But there was always the thought of Florida driving them on.
