Starring Edward Woodward

Bok av Carolyn McGivern
Personable and charming, Edward Woodward was a versatile and prolific theatre, television, film performer and recording artist. He was a world-wide star of iconic proportions who played everything from Shakespeare to pantomime and romantic adventure to horror. A member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and the National Theatre, Woodward also enjoyed success in several Broadway hits, but it was for his portrayal as David Callan, the reluctant and anguished spy, that he really shot to stardom in 1967. He was a household name by the time he went to work on the cult hit film, The Wicker Man and ultimately it was that performance that led to an offer to star in the US TV series The Equalizer. McGivern has tackled previous subjects including John Wayne, Ronald Reagan, Claire Trevor and Romy Schneider, but admits Woodward was a personal favourite and from first meeting him in 1969 she followed his career closely. Here she looks at the actors accomplishments with affection and admits to enjoying the careful research the project has entailed.
