Blues with My Crime : Facts and fiction

Blues With My Crime presents a great variety of facts and fiction about blues and crime. The facts are derived from 2,826 blues songs recorded during the 1920s and 1930s. Within this base sample, 607 formed a crime sample of songs containing lyrics of one or more desired, intended, threatened, attempted, or committed crimes. The "crimes" have been grouped into 17 categories; and an Appendix identifies the criteria used for the base sampling, a list of the artists covered, how many songs by each artist were reviewed, and brief descriptions of the crime songs. The crime fiction includes short stories in prose, verse, and free verse; blues poems; songs; and flash fiction. Photos and graphics related to blues, crime, and the 20s and 30s supplement both the fiction and non-fiction. QR links to recordings are given for over a hundred songs.
