Transition metal oxides : an introduction to their electronic structure and properties

The recent discovery of `high temperature' superconductors has brought the attention of a wide scientific community to the field of transition metal oxides. In fact these compounds are important in many other ways, and their diverse properties pose many difficulties of interpretation. The present book is intended to provide an introduction to this general field, at a level suitable for research workers with a background in solid-state chemistry or physics.
