Violin Sonata : Score and part

for violin and piano The work explores both conventional Sonata forms and the flexibility of performance practice for which Finnissy is renowned. The piece was designed to interact with some of the materials of the first movement of the String Quintet in F major Op.88 by Brahms and embraces the Irish folk-song "O! Thou hapless soldier", from Beethoven's Irische Lieder WoO 153.
