The Gods at Play : Lila in South Asia

This is a collection of mostly unpublished essays on `lila', a Hindu concept meaning `divine play' that is at once a theological, dramaturgical, and aesthetic category. Although Lila is an important component in South Asian cultural history, it has received little scholarly attention until now, and this volume will be the first to offer a comprehensive and interdisciplinary examination.
