A Short Course in the Philosophy of Religion

Bok av George Pattison
Written in an accessible style and explaining technical terms as it goes, this work is aimed at introductory students and general readers interested in thinking about God in the context of modern thought and experience. The book shows how the modern approach to religion has been moulded by such emphases as history, subjectivity and language, and has lived out the tension between a reductive and an interpretative approach to inherited beliefs. The general picture which emerges is then worked out in the specific case of the problem of evil and the challenge which this poses to religious belief. Amongst those whose work is discussed are Kant, Dostoevsky and Heidegger.
