Diesel Power in the North Eastern Region

Bok av Brian J. Dickson
At the nationalisation of Britian's railways in 1948, the railways in the north-east of England had been placed within the North Eastern Region of British Railways, and had been given a distinctive orange corporate colour. It was with some shock that late in 1966 it was announced that from January 1967, the North Eastern Region would lose its autonomy and be merged with the Eastern Region. This book shows diesel traction at work within the North Eastern Region up to its demise in December 1966 and afterwards as part of the enlarged Eastern Region. A broad range of diesel engines can be seen in this book, which takes a chronological approach to documenting the day-to-day activity of the area's rail network.
