The Interpretation of Korah's Rebellion in Three Religious Traditions - Jewish, Christian, Muslim : A Study in Comparative Reception History

Bok av John T. Greene
This is the first study to show that the Catholic Church uses Korah's rebellion to sustain its authority against outside resistance. Korah was the leader who went against Moses and lost. Whenever the influence of the Judeo-Christian worldview has been evident, rebellions against its authority have always been explained in light of the actions of Korah. The message being, do not be like Korah, follow the Church, and believe in what it says. Islamic, Jewish, and Christian teachings on Korah are all different. This book examines the nuanced differences between how these faith based religions deal with resistance by turning to Korah. The emergence of Protestant movements were seen as being in league with Korah by the Roman Catholic Church. Often these discourses fail to inspire people to follow the Church teachings.
