The Doings of the Fourth Australian Team in England 1884

Bok av J. W. McKenzie
This is a reprint of the 1884 edition, which is now a rare book, with the addition of a new introduction by John Arlott. It was originally published and reprinted from the magazine "Cricket". Usually described as "Cricket, a Weekly Record of the Game" it came out weekly from April to September and monthly from October to March. The original 949 issues would be extremely rare as a complete set; they appeared in 32 volumes from 1882 to 1913. The first editor was C W Alcock, the second F S Ashley-Cooper, the third J N Pentelow: that is sufficient provenance to indicate that it was at the top level of cricket writing in its time. This book, a contemporary account of the 1884 Australian Tour of England, is extremely sound and immensely readable. It contains portrait illustrations and biographies of each member of the team, their scores in the colonies and in England and full scores of all the matches.
