The National Geodetic Survey is a federal agency that is in charge of the United State's coordinate system. They provide the basis for mapping and charting; transportation and communication; and a large number of applications of science and engineering. The Annual Report of the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey began in 1837 with the name changing several times throughout the years. These reports contain information on the different operations that took place, and describe what workers did during that specific year. This is one of those reports.
