The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is a scientific agencywithin the United States Department of Commerce focused on the conditions of theoceans and the atmosphere. Some stationsprovide daily snowfall, snow depth, evaporation, and soil temperature data. Eachissue also contains monthly summaries for heating and cooling degree days (65degrees F base). The July issue also contains monthly heating degree days and snowdata for the preceding July through June. The annual issue contains monthly andannual averages of temperature, precipitation amounts, temperature extremes,freeze data, soil temperatures, evaporation, and a recap of monthly cooling degreedays.
