The Iconography of Photography in Medallic Art

In this work the author provides a general overview of a varied number of antique medals designed as awards to honor photography or photographic achievements. Includes an extensive essay that analyses the iconographic design of these types of medals, which reflected the cultural mentalities of XIX century societies toward the presumed "objectivity" and "truth" behind the photographic image.
