Woman and Puppet, and Other Stories

Louys was a French poet and writer most renowned for lesbian and classical themes in some of his work. He was made first a Chevalier and then an Officer of the Legion d'honneur for his contribution to French literature. The title story in this collection was first published in the original French in 1898 and has been adapted for film five times, including the The Devil is a Woman (1935) starring Marlene Dietrich, and Bunuel's That Obscure Object of Desire (1977).
