Bronson Alcott's Fruitlands (Illustrated Edition)

Bok av Clara Endicott Sears
Fruitlands, inspired by Transcendentalism and Amos Bronson Alcott's ideas of societal reform, was established on 90 acres of land in Harvard, Massachusetts in May 1843. The community was based on self-sufficiency but ultimately failed due to the difficulty in growing crops. Sears, a New England author, preservationist and philanthropist, purchased the property in 1910 and opened the farmhouse as a museum in 1914. This book, compiled using Alcott family letters and diaries, illustrated with photographs, and also including Louisa May Alcott's Transcendental Wild Oats, was first published in 1915.
