On Horseback Through Asia Minor, Volume 1 (of 2)

Bok av Fred Burnaby
Burnaby (1842-85) was a Brirish Army intelligence officer whose adventurous spirit, pioneering achievements and swashbuckling courage earned him the affection of Victorian imperial idealists. As well as travelling on horseback across Europe and Central Asia, he mastered the art of ballooning, spoke a number of foreign languages fluently, stood for parliament twice and published several books. At six foot four and broad shouldered he was every inch the hero, and was admired and feted by the women of London's high society, whilst stories of his feats of derring-do won him widespread popularity amongst the masses. This account of his second trip across Asia Minor was first published in 1877. Volume 1 of 2, with a photographic portrait of the author and map of his route.
