This study examines the use of ceramic building materials in transitional architecture of the 9th-11th centuries in southeast England and northwest France, discussing parallels, and in particular asking whether the materials used were Roman spolia, as has often been claimed. To do so the author surveys 11 sites, using the luminescence dating method to determine a chronology. French text.
