The city of Nicopolis (Epirus), founded by Augustus, is noted for its civic coinage, produced from the reign of Augustus to that of Gallienus, and with several unusual features. This volume updates Mando Oeconomides' 1975 catalogue of the coinage, publishing over 1300 newly discovered examples, and also includes, for the first time a historical commentary on the city's coinage, exploring the rhythm of production, its extent of circulation, its pattern of denominations and its iconography.
