Reverend William Fleming (1844-? ) was born in Ireland and educated at St. Edmund's, Ware. Ordained in 1870, he became curate of St. Mary's, Moorfields, 1871-85, rector of St. John's, Hackney, 1885-95, and in 1895 rector of St. Mary's. His works include: A Brief History of St. Mary's, Moorfields (1896), Complete History of the British Martyrs From the Roman Occupation to Elizabeth's Reign (1902), A Complete Calendar of the English Saints and Martyrs (1902), The Life of St. Patrick (1905) and Boulogne-Sur-Mer: St. Patrick's Native Town (1907).
