Bok av Alvaro Cardona-Hine
A young composer and his American wife visit his Native Costa Rica where he is to write music commissioned by his wealthy brother-in-law. All indications are that this gift of a vacation will lead to a resumption of middle class life back in the States. Everything changes when an unintended rawness to his music emerges, tied to the techtonic forces of his childhood mountain. Abandoning wife and past, he plunges into life among peasants and shamans. He has been warned of certain dangers, but cannot resist pursuing a path that leads him to create a hallucinatory music near the rim of the ominous volcano.
