The Watcher - Sheet Music for Vocals and Piano - Words by James Stephens

Bok av Cecil Forsyth
"The Watcher, Op. 74" is a musical composition for voice and piano by Cecil Forsyth. The lyrics of the piece are those of the eponymous poem by James Stephens (1880 - 1950), an Irish poet and novelist. He is best remembered for his novels "The Charwoman's Daughter" and "The Crock of Gold", as well as the collection of poetry "The Hill of Vision". This volume will appeal to lovers of poetry and classical music alike, and it is not to be missed by collectors of Forsyth's seminal work. Cecil Forsyth (1870 - 1941) was an English composer and musicologist. He played the viola in various orchestras after attending the University of Edinburgh and Royal College of Music, where he studied together with Hubert Parry and Charles Villiers Stanford. He is best remembered for his operas "Westward Ho!" and "Cinderella", as well as the choral ballad "Tinker, Tailor". He also published a number of books, including: "A Study of English Opera" (1911), "Choral Orchestration" (1920), and "A History of Music" (1916). Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in a modern, high-quality edition complete with a specially commissioned new introduction and biography of the composer.
