Adia's Ballad
Bok av Marc A Beausejour
Six years after the tragic and sudden death of her older sister, Andrea McAfee finds herself trying to move on with her life, but she is revisited by thoughts and memories of her sister when she visits her in a dream with a message. While Andrea ponders over those visions, she continues her education and eventually graduates from Richmond Hill High School. Taking solace in her natural ability to sing, Andrea is entered in an amateur talent competition, where she performs and receives the break of a lifetime from one of New York's record labels. As a recording artist, she meets another artist, a rapper who shared the same tragedy as Andrea, losing his older brother in a similar, violent way. As their friendship blossomed into romance, Andrea is introduced to a world of rival record labels, huge contracts, music tours, and the celebrity lifestyle. As she dives deeper into the music scene, her friends and her family began to fear that her early success blinded her from the realities of everyday life. Andrea, now donning the stage name "Adia", performs in different venues across the US, when she meets a singer from a rival music label who bore the same qualities as her late sister. Her friendship with Andrea is pivotal, as she reminds her about her purpose and her role in becoming a positive role model for others to imitate. Andrea learns the true value of her gifts, but when she endures yet another tragedy, her newfound faith is put to the test.
