Shadows in the Sun
Bok av Joe Churchwell
Set in 1655, in feudal Japan, during the height of the Shogun's power, "Shadows in the Sun" tells the tale of a samurai, Yoshi Onimura, and his rise to the position of the Shogun's Decapitator, against a backdrop of dark ambition, and political intrigue, which eventually lead to his fall, as the Akechi clan murder his wife and child, and frame him for betrayal. Yoshi refuses to commit ritual suicide, swears revenge instead, and becomes a ronin, who walks the path of assassination, leaving a trail of blood and defiance wherever he goes. Under the omnipresent thumb of the warlord Akechi Imagawa, the Shogun's secret ninja warriors, and a nation of samurai, the ronin travels a bleak journey of vengeance, crossing paths with tragic souls, masterful swordsman, impoverished peasants, and the raw elements of the earth itself. Integrating facets of extreme violence, and a deep sense of humanity and honor, the story transcends it's time and place with an ageless integrity, as it barrels on toward its apocalyptic climax in the era of feudal Japan, where there is nothing of the world save honor, vengeance, blood, and death.
