Bok av Joseph Nowinski
This 12-session evidence-based outpatient treatment program is ideal for clients with a diagnosed substance use disorder coupled with a diagnosed chronic mental illness. Like the Twelve Step facilitation Outpatient Program, the primary goal of Twelve Step Facilitation for the Dually Diagnosed Client (TSFDD) is for the client to become active in a Twelve Step fellowship program, specifically a Double Trouble in Recovery (DTR) group. This unique program also includes two equally important objectives: Adherence with any psychiatric treatment for the diagnosed mental disorder Abstinence from alcohol and other illicit drugs, and non-prescribed meditations How it works: TSFDD can be delivered successfully in one-to-one individual facilitation sessions as well as group treatment. This 12-session program covers five core topics: Introduction to TSFDD Acceptance Surrender Getting active in a DTR group Getting active in psychiatric treatment Each TSFDD session follows a consistent 3-part format: Brief review of the clients week, including follow-up on past recovery tasks and inquiry about medication adherence Facilitated discussion on a specific TSFDD core topic Assignment of new recovery tasks for the upcoming week
