Smooth Rhymes from a Wrinkled Mind
Bok av Bob McCluskey
Well, here we go again, another day, another book; Or perhaps that's how you might feel if you've read my first three books of poetry. But what's a guy to do, the darn things just keep on coming and I have to do something with them, so you're the one who gets blessed (or bored), as the case might be.
Now, my observation is that modern poetry does not ever rhyme, God forbid that should ever happen eh! Though not too long ago, almost all poetry rhymed. However for better or worse, that's how it almost always happens when I start to compose poetry. Let me express it this way... When one sits down to write a poem, the truth is generally not known regarding different ways to go about it. You can do the Do Ra Me of rhyming vowels phonetically, though intellectuals, mais oui, compose without it. That way to me though does appal, contriving not to rhyme at all, though one poetic way to bare a story. But this does not appeal to me, I have a rhyming mind, you see, to rhyme or not to rhyme lies ever there before me. So let's conclude debate, my friend, I feel we're coming to the end, conducting this impromptu poet's meeting. A rhyming poem when short and trite, will oft elicit great delight, like lightning in a bottle....bright, but fleeting. So there you have it, in rhyme no less and free too, hope you enjoy the book. The picture you see here is of my bride of three years and me at our wedding reception. She is now (January 20, 2013) eighty-eight years of age and I am eighty-seven. We continue to be just as joyful and happy now as we obviously were in this picture....God is good.
