The demotic documents from the Soknopaiu Nesos area of Al Fayyum presented here provide insights into the economic, religious and private lives of the village population under Ptolemaic rule. The documents, which are now all located in the Papyrus Collection of the NationalLibrary in Vienna, contain property sales contracts, transfers of temple incomes and nuptial provisions.
