This monograph presents the pottery of the Early Middle Age monastic complex Deir el-Bakhit. In addition to a chronological analysis of the material, it deals with production of pottery, trade, supply of materials to the complex, as well as pottery as a reflection of a monastic community. As there are no comparable publications on the Early Middle Ages in Egypt, it represents a vital contribution to further research on this period.
