icelandic sagas have long been a focus of Norse research. However, literary scholars have largely neglected the extensive and meticulous descriptions of clothing contained in the sagas until now. The present work examines the clothing worn by the characters in Icelandic sagas and stories with a view to its social, emotional, and gender-specific meanings within the context of the narratives.
