Coastal Vulnerability to Shoreline Dynamics, Inundation and Oil Spill
Bok av Mark Ogoro
The coastal region of Nigeria is blessed with abundant natural drainage and exposed to a coastal neighbourhood. The region is endowed with spectacular geomorphic and cultural features. However; the nature of our environment creates exposure of the people and visitors subjecting them to various environmental related problems. The book presents the findings of a regional study across the Niger Delta (BRACED) States of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Edo and Delta in Nigeria. Looking in-depth into their vulnerability to coastal perturbations (shoreline dynamics, sea level rise, inundation, flooding, tidal inundation, erosion) and oil spill. It maps, quantifies and explains the vulnerability of the people, its infrastructures in the wake of natural and anthropogenic induced hazards. Geo-Spatially, socio-economically and quantitatively this book presents and creates an understanding of the environment in which they live, providing a guide to building resilience, adaptation and mitigating vulnerability to environmental associated risks in the Region.
