»Kingdom and Personality«Schelling does not recognize ethical or political philosophy as self-sufficient disciplines. This does not mean, however, that his thinking is ethically or politically neutral. Rather, he aims both at a transfiguration of the individual's self-understanding and at the fashioning of a community free of domination, both, based on one field of knowledge: metaphysics. The book shows how Schelling's Treatise on Freedom develops this program and, along with it, contests other possible metaphysical conceptions.
