»Between Empire and Region in the Late Middle Ages«This study examines forms of governance, political action and structures as well as political actors in the Holy Roman Empire of the 15th century in a range of case studies covering local areas as well as »foreign policy«, establishing a new methodological approach of »governance« and »political networks« that does not rely on modern notions of statehood. This leads not only to a new interpretation of the rule of Emperor Frederick III as pragmatic and efficient, but also allows questioning established views of research regarding late medieval political and constitutional history.
