»Armed Forces against Pirates«In this comprehensive study Florian Sax examines the framework that public international law sets for combatting maritime piracy, including contentious issues like the concept of universal jurisdiction over land-based piracy facilitators or the use(lessness) of »embarked officers«. The second part of this book surveys the way the German constitution fills the international framework and the additional limits it sets for the German navy's actions, especially human rights restrictions. As a result, the author considers legislative action to be necessary to lift the taint of unconstitutionalism from the German contribution so far.
