Die Vorderosterreichischen Montanregionen in Der Fruehen Neuzeit

Bok av Angelika Westermann
This volume provides the first overview of the economic and social history of mining and metallurgy in the Austrian Forelands during the 16th century. It shows that conflicts of interest stemming from questions of royal sovereignty and religious affiliation were solved by subjugation under economic primacy. Analysis of metallurgic economics demonstrates that the region belonged to the major European producers of silver during the second half of the 16th century, and that its contributions to the central European copper market were of utmost importance.
