Bok av Peter Bünder Annegret Sirringhaus-Bünder Angela Helfer
Marte Meo comes from the Latin and means doing something "of one's own accord". The name was chosen by the founder of this method, Maria Aarts, to express the connection between professional counseling and dedicated self-help. At the centre of the method lies help for the parents, who learn how they can support their child's development in everyday life through the use of proper communication. To this end, scenes from everyday family life are videotaped, analyzed and discussed with the parents. The other part consists of implementing qualified professionals from the fields of child and adolescent care, social services and health care to accompany and support persons in such situations to cope with their situation. The main strength of MarteMeo lies in its use of video, which delivers pictures of behaviour that can provide a better insight into one's own actions. Through its clear orientation toward resources, this method can offer people seeking counseling an important way to receive help in handling their day-to-day problems.
