Assessment of Antenatal and Obstetric Care Services in a Rural District of Nepal

This text provides a thorough analysis of maternity services in Nepal. The following issues are highlighted: Low acceptance and use of antenatal care; risk approach and screening; reasons and extent of use of hospital-based obstetric care; quality of care and health worker - client interaction. This is complemented by a community-based study, addressing the community, perception of pregnancy-related problems, choice of care-giver and the communities' assessment of modern maternity services.
